Without ensuring the data involved in decisions are reliable, and having known procedures that can reach effective decisions in time, decision-making can be a great source of organizational or personal demise. From a high-level explaination, see The Effective Desision[1] by Peter Drucker. What Drucker said is applicable to all decision-making, and can be precisely prescribed using the language of computing science.
