As Moore's Law keeps challenging the fundamental physical properties of data manipulating devices, it also forced the society and industrial complex to rethink the way products and services are being released to the world. The sensors and actuators that have already been placed in our daily lives had revolutionized our perceptions and value judgement systems. Therefore, MU must guide all of its participants to examine the challenges and opportunities offered by the late breaking technologies, as well as the societal trends in adoption these tools. Learning about technology strategy is not an optional course, it is a necessary conduit to prepare for the imminent future.
History as a Mirror for reflecting upon Industrial/Societal Frontier
A well-exercised way to acquire knowledge about the future is to study the past. Learning history of key persons, institutions, and technologies across human civilization will reveal a lot of truths to participants. MU propose these historical content to be presented as reading assignments, multi-media presentations, and most importantly writing assignments to be committed by all its users across the entire community. PKC provide a digital data exchange platform to make these discussions or content publication an operational norm. Composing commentary on historical events would require an audience to share their learning outcomes.
Story Telling With Data
A prominent thesis of MU is that historical content can be cross-examined with many types and sources of data. PKC provides a healthy set of data visualization and cross-reference tools to present data content of different sources into a singular publishing platform, PKC itself, to help organize and present knowledge content in a highly intellectually challenging way. Students will learn a lot by applying data-centric knowledge to study the open-ended questions in Industrial/Social Frontier.
Reviewing and Publishing Content to a target audience
Story telling must have an audience. MU organizes teachers and students to be neutral and protective audience to critic and evolve content for the MU community. A MU-compliant data publication policy will be encoded in the community-operated PKC, so that content sources, and the nature of content can be refined to an relatively safe stage for publication. The key issues to be observed and protected are:
- Student privacy
- Authenticity of data/content sources
- The legitimacy of data usage/Avoid piracy
- Identification of plagirism, avoid over and under claiming of originality
- Content quality, such as spell checking, language maturity, ...
- Format of publication, compatibility of multiple publication medium, including PDF, Web Page, Interactive Platforms, and Content Integrity
- The possibility of using IPFS and NFT platforms to claim ownership of data
