Data Governance is about how to control data of value. A well-known turning point in history was the publication of [[wikipedia:Luca Pacioli|Luca Pacioli]]'s [[wikipedia:Summa de Arithmetica|Summa de Arithmetica]]. This encyclopedia of mathematics of its time, had a 26 page worth of text on what we call [[wikipedia:double entry book keeping|double entry book keeping]], which became a foundational literature for [[wikipedia:accounting|accounting]], and according to the books<ref>Jane-Gleeson White, Double Entry</ref> by [[Jane-Gleeson White]], Pacioli's double entry book keeping idea influenced the development of arts, sciences, and capitalism. It clearly influenced the practice of the accounting profession, and influenced the formulation of [[wikipedia:Hamiltonian Mechanics|Hamiltonian Mechanics]].
