Dear Prof. Surya:

I hope that you had some good rest during this holiday. I also would like to bring your attention to Abstract Interpretation, again. The more I think about Gasing, the more I realized that you had the best approach to deliver the Science of Data to the public at scale and with great efficiency.

The work of Prof. Patrick Cousot, was framed around the Symmetric Breaking process that was first articulated by Évariste Galois, who died before his 21st birthday, and gave the foundation of Group Theory that we all came to know around the world. This historical fact is relevant to our collective objective, because it showed that ideas of deep impact could be developed by young people, and it could be articulated with a small amount of publication and written in a relatively short amount of time.

As you have been explaining to the world, the goal of Gasing is to make the recognition of the power of numbers, in fun, delightful, and engaging manner. This framing of learning process and the operational strategies you have developed so far, has already been a phenomenon by itself, and could be massively propagated to many corners around the world at this challenging point in history. What I am trying to suggest, is for you to carefully read through the book: Principles of Abstract Interpretation, and identify a pattern that we could introduce this foundational work into a new, Global Data Science curriculum that can be taught with modern Computing Science/Technologies in an interactive manner that can be experienced by all people.

By associating Gasing with the foundation of data science, has many benefits. First, we will instill a set of self-sufficient reasoning principles, starting with Universality in Logic, so that people would actually know what SCIENCE is. SCIENCE is simply a process of reasoning about representable truth, where truth is a terminal result that lead people to attain the peace of mind. In the case of Galois Connection as illustrated by Prof. Cousot's work, it is the iterative narrowing and widening of data space, that denotes the explorative process in a repeatable manner, across all fields of applications and human experience.

Knowing this universal applicability of SCIENTIFIC exploration must be the biggest secret that is not yet known by people. The fact that people constantly fall into the trap of thinking truths must lie in some wise person or powerful agencies' secret faults. So that people must go to some famous and powerful institution to get that piece of wisdom. That is what Galois demonstrated to us, a silly person like him, who literally committed a stupid duel that killed himself, actually possess the wisdom that lasted close to two hundred years, and could become the simplest possible work in articulating the power of symmetry breaking, which has become the foundation of algebra, and later data science.

We don't need to look for wisdom, wisdom is everywhere, as long as you permit the wisdom to be used. That is what Gasing could show to the world, a method that talks about Abstraction and Concretization in ways that could be applied and accepted by anyone, anywhere.

A storyline, or a narrative that connects the foundational meaning of numbers and counting, to the cognitive recognition of team work, social service, and even governmental organization, can and must be founded on a Science of Governance that is based on the universal properties of data. It turns out, it is Data, the scale free medium that is literally the total invention of human mind, that provides a medium to reason about Science, therefore, through the iterative exploration of symmetry and symmetry-breaking, that gives meaning to everything we possibly do in a fair and justify-able manner.

I don't think all the other scholars and government leaders knows such thing exists, and they have been pretending to know for a long time. That is the reason the world has come down to this point. This is where we can be the leader of this new movement.

I am back in Bali, and this is a place that makes me feel calm. Our campus will be here, too. That means we can tell people the story from here, using ideas and tools that come from all over different places. So that we show the power of data/power of science in a unifying arithmetic and logical manner, where we teach people the notion of compiling knowledge content using nothing by Hyperlink, which is really a form of "ADDING" or "MOVING" in its simplest, yet deepest possible semantic sense. We can show that by mapping Gasing curriculum with Computer Architecture literature, and Compiler Theory framework, we can quietly, yet structurally embed deep intellectual insights to students' learning process without intimidating them.

It is Gasings' way to interpreting trigonometry to my son, even Hernando told me that your daughter taught him a new way to solve Electro-Magnetism problems, that reduced the cognitive load of seeing the forrest from the trees, while still able to solve concrete numerical problems with adequate precision. A meta-structure that helps people to see the patterns at all scales, would be a crucial work that you and I need to do to propel Gasing to the next level. We can show that Gasing can be applied to Computational Thinking, Systems Thinking and Design Thinking across all fields of sciences and practical application domains.
  1. Design Thinking guides people to recognize opportunities in their contextual applications.
  2. Computational Thinking works in the middle to compose and decompose problems in terms of Galois Connections.
  3. Systems Thinking reaches out to spacetime and large-scale/industrial scale applications that uses scalable tools to deliver reusable data services and strategic application recipes that prescribes opportunities for enterprises of any scale.

This three layers of content organization will enable us to portray an educational practice that helps people and nations to gain freedom from science. The science of data or the Science of Self-Govenance. It will also help us organize learning activities of students in ways that would cover Skill training, including sports and artistic skill training in the Design Thinking Realm. Computational Think is about Theoretical knowledge and skill training in the area of Data Science. Systems Thinking is the skill and knowledge in composing and decomposing stories based on technically grounded data sources. That way, we can broadcast our curriculum to the world at the biggest platform on earth, the World-Wide-Web endowed Internet, with many global events including G20 that is coming up soon. I hope what I just typed make sense, and we can orchestrate all this content on PKC.

Sincerely, Ben Koo
