Causal cone is also called:event horizon or world line, as the shape of cone indicates, it tells the source of causation through symmetry-breaking. This broken symmetry presents a geometrical boundary of possible cause and effects between all physical events[1], [2]. The realization of causal relations presents the notion of awareness of other events or spacetime objects, which defines the notion of measurement.

The following video[3] is a good start: {{#ev:youtube|https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YFrISfN7jo%7C%7C%7C%7C%7C}}

Why just a Circle

At the end of the same video, Vaughan Jones said the following:

The space-time dimensions go all the way down to one.
