In this context, Ethereum is a blockchain programming interface that has been instantiated by many blockchain operators . To avoid paying high transaction costs to the ETH-based gas fee, it is more cost-effective to implement features of Ethereum using low fee, test chains, or self-hosted Ethereum-based blockchains. In theory and in practice, switching between Ethereum-based blockchains, including the test chains and self-hosted Ethereum chains should be a simple adjustment of chain specification.
