World Wide Web is an invention by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, and is often shortened as web. The invention of the web has to do with multiple layers of software and hardware invention. Overall speaking, it needs an integrative platform that absorbs all these deep systems engineering efforts. In other words, the engineering of system of systems is a required condition to have World Wide Web to be implemented, and having the degree of impact that it has on the world. The following components are the crucial ideas that made the invention of World Wide Web possible.

  1. The Internet as a Scale-free data platform:Time Berners-Lee tweets:"This is for Everyone"
  2. A unifying network-enable programming environment: Tim Berners-Lee showing his NeXT Computer in the 2012 Olympic ceremony
  3. The notion of Client-Server architecture: Mathematica and Mathematica Notebook[1].
  4. As the scale of computing services growing rapidly, a new style or architecture, called Service Oriented Architecture(SoA) and microservice architectures appeared later and became dominant in the 21st century.
