Dr. Jia Jinyuan is presently a professor and the director of the Smart 3D Graphics Laboratory at Tongji University. In 2023, he was appointed to serve as the Yangtze River Delta Metaverse Expert Committee's vice chairman. In 2022, he was appointed a G20 Professor by the Indonesian Academy of Sciences and invited to Bali, Indonesia to present a special report on Metaverse and the personalization of Web3D technologies at the G20 summit. In 2021, he was elected executive director of the Chinese Graphics Society, after which he established the Web Graphics (Web3D) Special Committee and served as its director. He has served as the chairman of the program committee of the China Virtual Reality Conference (ChinaVR) on two occasions (2017 and 2018) and as the chairman of the program committee of the ACM Web3D conference on two occasions (2015 and 2020). Over the past eighteen years, he has led a team that has investigated the main Web3D technologies and proposed a lightweight solution for the online visualization of Web3D big data on the mobile Internet. More than fifty high-quality Web3D research articles have been published in leading academic journals. He has sought 26 national invention patents, all of which have been transferred to businesses for industrialization. Four times in a row, his team's research results have received the Best Paper Award at the China Virtual Reality Conference (ChinaVR), the Best Paper Award at the International Entertainment and Education (Edutainment2017), and the Best Paper Award at the International ACM Web3D 2020 Conference. He has won the first prize for the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation (individual) Innovation Award, and the Craftsman Spirit Award, as well as the second prize for the Chinese Graphics Society's Science and Technology Progress Award. He earned a bachelor's degree in 1984 from Daxing'anling Forestry Normal School, a master's degree in 1991 from Jilin University, and a doctorate in 2004 from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
