In general, Project Management defines participants in a project according to the following groups:

  1. Project managers. Project managers take part in project planning and management, overseeing project execution, issue resolution, and budgetary concerns.
  2. Stakeholders. Stakeholders are users who do not perform any work on a project, but are interested in the project's status and need to view project progress.
  3. Resources. Resources are users who work on tasks as part of a project team, but do not have the administrative responsibilities of a project manager. Resources view and update their tasks in Project Management.
  4. Summary Task Owners. Summary task owners are the people named on summary tasks who have oversight over that section of the work plan.
